4 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Baseball Plays for 5/3/17
Jason Castro, C, Minnesota Twins
FanDuel Price: $2,400
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Kansas City Royals are likely to see heavy ownership on the slate as they will face pinata Mike Pelfrey, who continues to struggle. Royals catcher Salvador Perez, the second-most expensive catcher on the slate, makes for a great play.
One of the cheapest catching options on the slate is Minnesota Twins backstop Jason Castro. Sporting only a .319 wOBA over his first 75 plate appearances, he's more than likely going to see low ownership.
Why You Should Use Him:
A cheap option, Castro has a lot of things working in his favor, including his hot run of play. Over the last seven days, Castro ranks fifth in hard-hit rate in all of major league baseball at 66.7%, posting a 112 wRC+ in the last week.
His scorching stretch is likely to continue as he'll face Oakland Athletics starter Kendall Graveman, who has struggled so far this season. Over 24 innings pitched, Graveman has racked up a 2.25 ERA, but he owns a 4.30 SIERA and 35.4% hard-hit rate to go along with it.
Castro is sure to fly below the radar of many owners, and he gets a sneaky boost in his home park -- the Twins' stadium ranks seventh in park factor over the last three seasons.
