5 Collegiate Hitters to Know for the 2017 MLB Draft

You want a guy who plays a premium position? How about someone who absolutely raked in college? And a bit of speed to boot? Then Adam Haseley may be the hitter of your dreams.

Haseley -- like McKay -- was a two-way player who thrived both on the mound and at the dish, but his exploits in center field are what drive him into the top 10 on both MLB.com's and Baseball America's lists. ESPN's Keith Law wrote in his ranking of the top prospects that Haseley is likely to stick in center in pro ball, further bolstering his stock.

As a hitter, Haseley was an animal. He led the Cavaliers in each of the three triple-slash categories as well as doubles, home runs, and walks. He most certainly did not lead in strikeouts.

Haseley came to the dish 270 times this spring; only 21 of those (7.8%) resulted in a strikeout. That's compared to a 16.3% walk rate, helping him lead the ACC in on-base percentage at .491. That was while holding a .269 isolated slugging percentage that dwarfed Virginia's team mark of .157.

Perhaps the only concern around Haseley is that this production wasn't apparent in previous years. His slash jumped to .390/.491/.659 in 2017 from .304/.377/.502 the year before, leading to his skyrocketing up draft boards. But he was superb in each of the major categories we were emphasizing, and he earned an early draft slot by amping up his play when he had to.
