Santana's good fortune has come despite the fact his hard-hit rate has climbed each month, and it's sitting at 32.6%, slightly above a league-average mark (32.1%), for July. His strikeout (18.4%) and walk (8.8%) rates are both worse than the league average, and his 4.86 SIERA -- the league-average SIERA for a starter is 4.46 -- doesn't line up with his 11-6 record or 2.99 ERA.
