Have you noticed the new look to Ender Inciarte this season?


It may not be quite that aggressive, but Inciarte is off to a tear swiping bags this year. After posting a career-high 22 steals last year, Inciarte has already swiped 18 on the young season. Dude is doing work.

With a matchup on tap tonight versus Jon Lester, who allowed the seventh-most stolen bases last season, Inciarte may seem like a drool-worthy choice. That may not be the wisest choice, though, but Inciarte may have trouble getting on base.

Going back to 2017, Lester has dominated lefty-lefty matchups. In 54 2/3 innings pitched in the split, the southpaw has allowed a microscopic .240 wOBA, 31.6% strikeout rate, 25.0% hard-hit rate, and 26.4% fly-ball rate. In this same split, it has been ugly for Inciarte as he's recorded a 19.5% hard-hit rate, 21.3% fly-ball rate, and .296 wOBA.

Inciarte may be channeling his inner Benny-the-Jet Rodriguez, but tonight would be a good time to look at others in the outfield.
