Gerrit Cole is in a pricing tier of his own tonight as he's more than $3,000 clear of the next-highest priced starter. But he's well worth paying up for.

Just looking at players on the main slate for tonight, Cole's 2.34 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) is the best on the slate by a ridiculous margin, with the next-best mark coming in at 3.98. We see a similar gap in strikeout rate, with his 38.2% clip sitting over 10% better than anyone else tonight.

He also draws a decent matchup here, as the Texas Rangers rank only 25th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching, while their 25.9% strikeout rate is the second-highest in the majors. Unsurprisingly, our models have Cole as the slate's top pitcher by a big margin.
