10 Fantasy Baseball Players to Buy and Sell for Week 12
Sell Matt Boyd
The Detroit Tigers have to be pleasantly surprised at the production they're getting out of Matt Boyd, but as a fantasy owners, now is the time to sell high on the 27-year-old left-hander.
Boyd's 3.23 ERA is far below his career 5.01, covering 68 starts. Last year, he had an ERA of 5.27 and a FIP of 4.51, and in 2017, they were 4.53 and 4.75, respectively. His FIP of 3.87 this season suggests he has improved, but that improvement has really come in one area: home runs.
Boyd is allowing just 0.72 home runs per nine innings this season, well below his career average of 1.43, and his BABIP of .232 is almost 100 points better than last season's .330 and his career mark of .297.
It's more likely than not that hitters are going to hit some more balls out on Boyd this season, and his BABIP is unlikely to stay where it is, meaning he's going to give up more runs. Now's the time to sell.
