Sell Wade Davis

So Wade Davis has piled up 21 saves for the Colorado Rockies here in 2018. That's a lot, right? In fact, it's tied for fourth-most in Major League Baseball this season. So why would you want to deal Davis away?

Well, he has a 4.40 ERA and a 4.18 FIP this season, has seen his strikeout rate tumble from 32.6% to 25.8% and his walk rate increase from 11.6% to 14.1%. He's also seen a small dip in his velocity, from 94.3 mph last year to 93.7 mph, according to Fangraphs.

The walk rate is simply too high as he's struggled to deal with the conditions at Coors. His home ERA is 5.27, with a walk rate of 16.9%. On the road, it's 3.71 and 11.1%. Now is the time to use that save number to sell high on a closer who has been lucky to gather up the number of saves he already has.
