3 Under-the-Radar MLB FanDuel Plays for 7/2/18

After struggling over four starts since returning from the disabled list, Carlos Martinez finally put together a strong performance last week, holding a tough Cleveland Indians squad to two earned runs over six innings with eight punchouts.

With elite options in Max Scherzer and Corey Kluber likely garnering a good chunk of ownership, followed by strikeout artist Robbie Ray, most folks probably won't want to risk paying down at pitcher. But keep in mind that there are some enticing offensive matchups tonight, including the always-alluring Coors Field.

With limited value options, rolling the dice on Martinez against the Arizona Diamondbacks is a viable way to go in tournaments. We know what Martinez is capable of when he's right, putting together a 3.85 SIERA and 25.3% strikeout rate in 2017. The Diamondbacks haven't exactly put up scary numbers against right-handed pitching, either, posting an 81 wRC+ and 24.4% strikeout rate.

Given how inconsistent Martinez has been this year (4.70 SIERA), this is far from a gimme, but there's enough potential upside in the matchup for a lucrative outcome.
