5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 7/30/18
Joe Mauer, 1B, Minnesota Twins
Price: $2,600
Bieber has made eight MLB starts for Cleveland this year, allowing at least four earned runs in half of those outings. The contact he has allowed is particularly concerning, with a 47.5% hard-hit rate and 9.2% soft-hit rate.
Joe Mauer doesn't have the kind of home run upside that Sano offers, but he can put up solid fantasy numbers anyway.
Mauer has a competent .324 wOBA on the year, and over 685 plate appearances in the last two seasons, he has a .342 wOBA against right-handed pitching. His production is down a bit in 2018, with only a .320 wOBA in that split, but his hard-hit rate is also up. Last year's mark in the split sat at 40.8%, and this season he's up to 42.5%.
He's not much for fly balls (25.0% against righties), and his .098 ISO reveals a lack of power, but this matchup against Bieber leaves him with plenty of room to produce anyway.
