5 Daily Fantasy Baseball Value Plays for 7/31/18
Ryan Zimmerman, 1B, Washington Nationals
Price: $2,900
There's no sugarcoating just how much Ryan Zimmerman's production has fallen off in 2018, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for optimism.
His 41.4% hard-hit rate is on pace to be a career-best clip while his 17.8% soft-hit rate is only a bit worse than his career average (14.7%), but his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) sits at a lowly .245 -- compared to a .335 in 2017 and a .310 career average.
In addition to the variance-laden impact that his low BABIP has had on his production, Zimmerman has still put up big numbers in a limited sample against southpaws, turning a 40.6% hard-hit rate into a .406 wOBA and .216 ISO.
Those numbers aren't too far off his .425 wOBA and .323 ISO against lefties from last year, and they become especially appealing against New York Mets southpaw Steven Matz, who has struggled to the tune of a 4.32 xFIP with a 37.1% hard-hit rate allowed to right-handed bats this year.
