This season has been a bit ugly for left-hander Jason Vargas. Over 42 innings, the veteran has recorded skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) of 4.87, and he is on pace for a career-worst 37.5% hard-hit rate.

Vargas won't get any favors tonight against the Atlanta Braves, who have the fifth-best team weighted on-base average (wOBA) against southpaws with a .337 mark.

With the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees is good hitting spots, it may be tempting to pay down at pitcher, but Vargas can't be trusted tonight.
