There's a big enough price discrepancy among value plays that we really look for different things at different price-points. When someone is priced at the minimum, like Brock Holt is tonight, simply having even moderately respectable numbers in a well-positioned offense can be more than enough to warrant a play.

With the high over/under I referenced for Escobar, the Red Sox have a slate-high 4.62 implied total, so they've got the "well-positioned offense" part down.

Holt's got the respectable numbers aspect, too. He posted a reasonable .338 wOBA over 109 games last year, which jumped to .341 in 256 plate appearances against right-handed pitching -- giving him a boost against Arizona righty Zack Godley.

Holt's not an every-day starter, so be sure to check on the Red Sox lineup before plugging him in, but even if he's hitting near the bottom of the order he's a bargain tonight.
