J.D. Martinez, OF, Boston Red Sox

Price: $4,000

Once again we have the Boston Red Sox showing the slate's highest implied total (5.46 -- which is 0.74 runs more than any other team as of Thursday morning), and yet we get J.D. Martinez priced down $100 from where he was last night, when he dropped 18.7 fantasy points and the Sox tallied 11 runs.

As I outlined yesterday, there aren't many players who can crush a baseball the way Martinez can. He's in the top 5% in average exit velocity for the third-straight season, and his 94.1-mile-per-hour mark is on pace to be the highest of his career. His wOBA is down to "only" .405 (after posting marks of .427 and .430 in the last two seasons), but per BaseballSavant, his expected wOBA (xwOBA) is actually higher than it was in either of those two seasons.

Of course, .405 is still really great, especially when he's priced down $1,000 or more from the day's top hitters.

Martinez's pitching matchup is also a good one as Detroit Tigers righty Jordan Zimmermann has opened 2019 with a 5.01 SIERA over five starts -- which lines up with his marks of 4.81, 5.22 and 4.20 since joining the Tigers in 2016.

I'm not going to belabor this spot with another slide, but Mookie Betts is also down $100 to $3,900 tonight after notching 21.9 fantasy points on Wednesday. His production is down this year, but he's still sporting a 40.0% hard-hit rate, 13.3% soft-hit rate and 45.3% fly-ball rate, while his walk rate is up to a career-high 14.5%. The Sox are way under-priced on Thursday.
