Mike Trout, OF, Los Angeles Angels

Price: $5,200

It's not a rare occurrence that Mike Trout is our top-projected bat, but on a 15-game slate, it's usually going to be easier to find the value to be able to fit his hefty salary.

His production doesn't' require much introduction. For most hitters, opening the year with a .445 wOBA and .280 ISO would look unsustainable. For Trout, who posted a .437 wOBA and .323 ISO in 2017 and .447 wOBA and .316 ISO in 2018, it's business as usual.

As always, we don't need to be concerned about a righty-righty matchup for him, either -- he's on pace for his third straight season with a wOBA of at least .450 against same-sided pitching.

Toronto Blue Jays righty Clay Buchholz makes for a great matchup, too. It's been just three starts so far, but his 5.22 skill-interactive ERA is an ugly mark, and he's paired it with a meager 12.1% strikeout rate. That's a big drop-off from what he did in 2018 (4.08 SIERA, 20.6% strikeout rate), but it's also very much in line with his last full season before that (2016), when he posted a 5.09 SIERA and 15.8% strikeout rate. Even if we see Buchholz turn things around some, we shouldn't expect him to be a guy we want to avoid attacking in this spot.
