This one was a maelstrom, with Gutjahr starting things off by pairing Matt Harvey with his Johnny Cueto. The first closers go to Matt van de Merlen and Redman, who select Aroldis Chapman and Craig Kimbrel, respectively, with consecutive picks. Polarizing players Todd Frazier, Prince Fielder, Dee Gordon, and Adam Wainwright also get snatched up.

My pick: Mookie Betts

I was prepared to take either Johnny Cueto or Matt Harvey in this spot, but I got double-sniped by Gutjahr, so I elected to reach for Betts. In most of my mock drafts, he was going in this area, and I think he can still return value better than where I picked him.

Says Russell Peddle: “The pick of the draft I found most interesting was Mookie Betts going 50th! We're all just trying to get the next Jose Abreu or George Springer, aren't we? They're exciting when they pan out, but man is it ever depressing when they don’t.”
