With one out and an 0-2 count on notorious slugger Giancarlo Stanton, Chase Anderson didn't make what I would call a smart pitch. And that's something that he figured out just a second later as Stanton took the 82.4 mph pitch to deep left center.

How deep? According to Statcast, Stanton's mash traveled 462 feet -- tied for the ninth-longest shot of the season and his second longest of the year. But, with an exit velocity of 116.8 mph, Giancarlo's beer town bomb is the hardest home run to travel at least 450 feet.

This is all so weird to us baseball fans recently because Stanton has been struggling terribly. In the month of June, Stanton has a Weighted On-Base Average (wOBA) of just .191 and has yet to hit a home run in 47 plate appearances.

Actually, this home run -- which dates back to April 30th -- is even more of an outlier because it's the only home run Stanton has hit on an 0-2 count all season, a count in which Stanton is hitting for a wOBA of just .161 on the year. For his career, Stanton's wOBA is a respectable .211, considering the tough circumstances of a pitcher's count.

I guess that's what happens when a terrible pitch meets Stanton's bat, no matter the count.
