4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 9/9/16

Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.

Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks. Here are the teams you should be targeting in daily fantasy baseball today.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pittsburgh Pirates' offense has been straight donkey doo the past few months. They're 24th in wRC+ in the second half, and their .136 isolated slugging percentage would make some with weak constitutions hurl. They've started to turn things around, though, ranking fifth in hard-hit rate the past 30 days, and it might be time to hop back on the bandwagon.

They're squaring off with Tim Adleman, who is doing some things well in his second stint with the Cincinnati Reds. He has only walked four batters in his four starts back, giving him a bit of extra leeway for mistakes. Unfortunately, though, his 15.9% strikeout rate and 35.3% hard-hit rate erase that, meaning he can still be vulnerable against quality offenses. The Pirates look like they may be getting back to that realm, allowing us to stack away tonight.

To explain the Pirates' resurgence, you really only need two words.

He's back.

Over the past 30 days, Andrew McCutchen has a 46.7% hard-hit rate with a 39.1% fly-ball rate. Before that, his hard-hit rate was just 32.7% with a whopping 22.0% soft-hit rate. McCutchen is back, but his price is still low, and we should be pounding away on this baby before the prices and public adjust.
