3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 6/4/18
Stacking can be a controversial topic in many daily fantasy sports, but you can count baseball as a glaring exception. Here, it's universal.
Using multiple players on the same team on a given day presents you with the opportunity to double dip. If one of your players hits an RBI double, there's a good chance he drove in another one of your guys. When you get the points for both the run and the RBI, you'll be climbing the leaderboards fast.
Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.
Premium members can use our new stacking feature to customize their stacks within their optimal lineups for the day, choosing the team you want to stack and how many players you want to include. You can also check out our hitting heat map, which provides an illustration of which offenses have the best combination of matchup and potency.
Now, let's get to the stacks.
New York Yankees
With the most expensive pitcher priced at just $8,500 and a worthwhile value hurler in Domingo German ($6,600), this is one of the easiest opportunities we'll ever have to stack the high-cost New York Yankees. They lead all implied team totals by a wide margin with a 5.42 clip against Mike Fiers, who is carrying a 4.65 SIERA and 15.3% strikeout rate. Going back to the start of the 2016 season, Fiers has allowed a .339 wOBA to lefties and .355 wOBA to righties, so we needn't be afraid of attacking him from either side of the plate.
Aaron Judge ($5,200) and Giancarlo Stanton ($4,900) are your usual headliners, and despite the hefty price tags, you shouldn't have too much trouble rostering both if you want to. In addition to the cheap pitching, there are plenty of value options on the Los Angeles Angels and Arizona Diamondbacks, which we'll get to in the next sections, so you should be able to pay up for the top-end sticks you want tonight.
Gary Sanchez ($3,800) is wading through a nasty slump over the last couple weeks, so he's probably more of a secondary option, but he can never be ruled out given his career .372 wOBA and .273 isolated power (ISO) against right-handed pitching. Meanwhile, Didi Gregorius ($4,300) seems to have climbed out of his own slump, and we can give him a look on a weak slate for shortstops. Gregorius has produced a solid .352 wOBA and .238 ISO against righties since the start of 2017.
Greg Bird ($3,400) and Brett Gardner ($3,300) aren't quite the bargains they once were, but they bat high in the order and will hold the platoon advantage. Neil Walker ($2,400) is our best bet for value if he cracks the lineup. He has strong career numbers against righties, including a .366 wOBA last year.
Gleyber Torres ($4,000) remains an expensive wild card because he hits low in the order, but you can't ignore the 41.1% hard-hit rate and .405 wOBA he's posted through 134 plate appearances.
