3 MLB Prop Bets to Target on 6/7/18

Our models see value in a pair of Houston hitters. Which ones do we expect to jump on Cole Hamels and the Rangers tonight?

Prop betting odds can be useful in daily fantasy sports to help gauge the potential performance of a player on any given night in the MLB. Likewise, the same principles can be applied in the opposite direction -- by using our fantasy projections and models to help make more informed prop bets.

Using the odds available at Bovada Sportsbook, here are three prop bets available tonight that are good plays based on our daily MLB game projections.

Houston Astros at Texas Rangers

George Springer OVER 2.5 Runs, Hits, and RBI (+105)

George Springer and the Houston Astros are up against left-hander Cole Hamels on Thursday, and our models have keyed in on several Houston hitters as potential values.

Springer has a nice history against Hamels in the past, including two home runs earlier this season. For his career, Springer is 6-for-14 (.250) with 3 home runs, 4 RBI, 6 walks, and a 1.313 OPS against Hamels. Our models have singled him out as a great prop bet Thursday, projecting him for a combined 3.36 runs, hits, and RBI.

Alex Bregman Will Have MORE Runs, Hits, and RBI Than Shin-Soo Choo (-130)

Another Houston hitter our models are high on tonight is Alex Bregman, who is being offered as part of a unique prop against the Rangers' Shin-Soo Choo. Bregman is the favorite to have more runs, hits, and RBI, and our models think it could be a solid play at -130 odds.

Bregman does see a slight dip in production against lefties, but his isolated power only goes from .159 to .149 versus southpaws. With Choo hitting against Gerrit Cole, our models project him for 2.16 runs, hits, and RBI, compared to 2.94 for Bregman.

Baltimore Orioles at Toronto Blue Jays

Yangervis Solarte OVER 2 Runs, Hits, and RBI (-115)

Yangervis Solarte has had a rough start to the month of June. He is batting just 4-for-21 (.190) so far, however, a matchup against right-hander David Hess could turn things around for the Toronto Blue Jays' slugger.

Solarte is hitting .259 against righties this season, and he is averaging a run, hit, and RBI every 2.16 plate appearances versus right-handed pitching. On the other side, Hess has not been great against lefties. They own a .381 wOBA against him over 44 total batters faced, and with that our models project Solarte for 2.64 runs, hits, and RBI.
