FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Helper: Wednesday 8/22/18
The Colorado Rockies didn't make a ton of noise on Tuesday, but with another plus matchup on tap at Coors, they once again top the hitting side of things. They're joined by the Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Washington Nationals as today's top offenses. Despite having some big names on the mound tonight, question marks abound, leaving us with some tough decisions to make on that front.
Our daily helper is available every day to analyze FanDuel's main slate and help give you a starting point when you're building lineups. Be sure to also incorporate our great tools into your research process. Whether you're looking for daily projections, the latest starting lineups and weather, or batting and pitching heat maps to find the best matchups -- we've got you covered! And don't forget to take a listen to The Solo Shot podcast with Jim Sannes, who breaks down the MLB daily fantasy slate each day.
On that note, let's highlight some of the top options for today's FanDuel main slate.
Pitchers to Target
Walker Buehler ($9,100 on FanDuel): Between Carlos Carrasco's ($10,800) brutal matchup against the Boston Red Sox, and Stephen Strasburg ($10,100) just returning from the DL, it's really difficult to stomach opting for either one tonight, particularly as the most expensive options on the board. They're followed by Noah Syndergaard ($9,800), who's tempting in a spot against the San Francisco Giants (3.37 implied team total), but he, too, has concerns after mustering just a 19.3% strikeout rate over four starts since his latest DL stint. Of course, this is still Syndergaard we're talking about, so he remains in play, but if his recent form scares you, Walker Buehler makes for a viable alternative against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are more of a neutral matchup, but they're only drawing a 3.37 implied team total themselves, and Buehler has an impressive 3.34 SIERA, 26.5% strikeout rate, and 6.0% walk rate. This being the Dodgers, there are always concerns about workload -- particular for a young pitcher -- but Buehler has exceeded 100 pitches in 2 of his last 4 starts. In all, there's a strong argument for selecting Buehler as tonight's top arm.
