3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Stacks for 5/16/19

We get only five games on the main slate tonight (starting at 6:40 p.m. EST), but with pitching sorely lacking, we still get a solid group of stacks to dig into.

Each day here on numberFire, we'll go through four offenses ripe for the stacking. They could have a great matchup, be in a great park, or just have a lot of quality sticks in the lineup, but these are the offenses primed for big days that you may want a piece of.

Now, let's get to the stacks.

Toronto Blue Jays

It's always tough to trust these Toronto Blue Jays for a stack, but they draw the slate's second-highest implied total (4.99) for their game against Dylan Covey, who may very well be the worst pitcher taking the mound tonight.

Through 10.2 innings, Covey has been lit up for a 5.91 ERA and 1.88 WHIP. Normally, we might chalk that up to a small sample, except he owns a 6.09 ERA and 1.57 WHIP over 202.1 career innings. Welp. And those results are well deserved considering they come with his career 5.14 SIERA, 15.2% strikeout rate, and 10.6% walk rate. Arguably, his typically high ground-ball rate has been his one saving grace, but even that hasn't materialized yet in 2019, with him generating a meager 27.8% ground-ball rate.

Coincidentally, Covey's last start came against these same Blue Jays, who notched four runs and two dingers off of him in just 4.2 innings. Facing the same team again in such a short span shouldn't do Covey any favors.

As is pretty much always the case with Toronto, they're not very expensive, and despite being an overall mediocre lineup, the heart of their order packs some power between Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($3,000), Justin Smoak ($3,400), Rowdy Tellez ($3,100), and Randal Grichuk ($3,400). Guerrero, in particular, is enticing at his price after finally breaking through with a monster two-homer game on Tuesday (50.4 FanDuel points), indicating he might be finally finding his groove at the highest level.
