Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Adds: Week 22

With the 2021 baseball season in full swing, nailing the waiver wire and the players available are critical to beating out your league-mates in season-long leagues.

Each week we will take a look at players who are rostered in fewer than 50% of Yahoo leagues and can help out your season-long squads. Remember, if you aren’t scouring the waiver wire, you are falling behind.

Tyler Naquin, OF, Cincinnati Reds

Roster Percentage: 41%

Is this another mini hot streak or a sustained output coming for Tyler Naquin?

Over the last two weeks, Naquin has bombed his way to three home runs, and the big positive here is that he should see increased playing time with Jesse Winker on the injured list.

In the last month (85 at-bats), Naquin has crushed the ball for a .921 OPS. He's hit as high as second in the order lately against righties, and that's a money spot in the high-powered offense of the Cincinnati Reds.

If Naquin is available, grab him.

Touki Toussaint, SP, Atlanta Braves

Roster Percentage: 47%

Look, you probably feel like you are reading a yo-yo of an article again. Any veteran fantasy manager has probably previously rostered (or currently has) Touki Toussaint.

But, I think if you are desperate for pitching down the stretch, the right-hander could be your guy. This season -- spanning 33 2/3 innings pitched -- he's struck out 35 batters and has posted a 4.01 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. His last start showed his outstanding ability as he punched out seven with two earned runs allowed in a win.

The Atlanta Braves' offense should help Toussaint get wins if he can hold up his end of the deal, and he's a solid addition if you need an arm.

Nestor Cortes, SP, New York Yankees

Roster Percentage: 32%

The New York Yankees have engineered an interesting turn around recently, including a sweep of their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox.

Nestor Cortes has been a big part of engineering that turnaround. He's striking out better than a batter per inning (60 strikeouts in 56 1/3 frames) and is logging a 26.5% strikeout rate this season. That's pretty spicy. And the Yanks seem to believe in him, too. They are sending Luis Gil down to the minors, giving Cortes a real shot to stick in the rotation for the time being.

If you are sleeping on Cortes, don't.

Anthony Santander, OF, Baltimore Orioles

Roster Percentage: 34%

Over the last two weeks, who leads the major leagues in home runs? If you guessed Anthony Santander (there's no way you did, you cheater), you got it right.

While sadly all of these have been solo blasts, that can't continue. And Santander has been pretty solid for the last month. He's ripped his way to an .868 OPS, and he's thrown in a stolen base to boot.

He also gets to hit in Camden Yards, which ranks in the top-10 for park factor and home run factor. Give Santander a look if you need help in the outfield.
