Matt Vierling leading off for Tigers on Opening Day
Detroit Tigers outfielder Matt Vierling is in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Opening Day.
Vierling will start in right field to open the season and bat first versus left-hander Shane McClanahan and the Rays. Javier Baez will start at shortstop and bat second, with Miguel Cabrera at designated hitter batting seventh. Riley Greene and Austin Meadows join Vierling in the outfield, with Eric Haase behind the plate, Spencer Torkelson at first base, Jonathan Schoop at second base, and Ryan Kreidler at third.
