Austin Hays absent Monday for Orioles
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Austin Hays is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener against right-hander Michael Kopech and the Chicago White Sox.
The Orioles are giving Hays a breather after he went 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts on Sunday. It was the first time Hays failed to reach base in a start since August 10. Ryan McKenna is replacing Hays in left field on Monday and batting ninth. Ryan Mountcastle is covering the cleanup role for Baltimore.
numberFire’s models project McKenna ($2,100) for 7.2 and Mountcastle ($3,100) for 15.2 FanDuel points on Monday. Mountcastle is our second-best point-per-dollar value among projected batters on the board. Per our MLB Heat Map, the Orioles' implied total is 5.37, second-highest of the day, and the game total is 9.0. Kopech has a 4.95 ERA in front of an even worse 5.73 xERA (bottom 6th percentile of MLB) this season. He also gives up plenty of hard hits (42.7%) and hands out walks at one of the highest rates in the majors (bottom 2nd).
