1. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Milwaukee Bucks (1971-72)
As the first to ever do it, Kareem went back-to-back as the NBA's regular season MVP. As crazy as it sounds, he improved on his previous year, with an NBA record 25.37 win shares and .340 win shares per 4 quarters.
On a per-game basis, the Hall of Famer jumped to 34.8 points, 16.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists over 44.2 minutes of action. His PER of 29.9 constituted the highest mark of his career.
It didn't matter, though. The Bucks won 63 games but to no avail as they lost to Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and the rest of the '71 Lakers by the count of 4-2 in the Western Conference Finals.
