3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 3/29/17
Kemba Walker, PG, Charlotte Hornets
FanDuel Price: $7,800
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
It should come as no surprise on this 10-game slate, but the point guard position is absolutely loaded tonight. Kemba Walker isn't likely to be overly popular in a tough on-paper matchup against the Toronto Raptors.
Why You Should Use Him:
Walker has been playing quite well recently, averaging 40.6 FanDuel points over his past four games. During that span, he's attempted 78 field goals, with the next-highest Charlotte Hornets player (Nicolas Batum) coming in a distant second at 56. According to nbawowy.com, he has maintained a 30.1% usage rate during that time, up from his already team-leading 28.9% usage rate.
If Walker continues to be this aggressive on the offensive end, he should again find success against the Raps. While Toronto has strong numbers against opposing floor generals, most of those numbers were accumulated with Kyle Lowry at the helm. Lowry's replacement, Cory Joseph, falls far short of his predecessor, but never more glaringly than on the defensive end.
While Lowry ranks 10th among point guards in defensive real plus-minus (DRPM), Joseph comes in at 80th.
Not only is a matchup against CoJo an easier assignment, but Walker should benefit from Toronto's struggles against the pick and roll. Only three teams have allowed a higher effective field goal percentage to opposing ball-handlers in the pick-and-roll than the Raptors this season -- an area in which Walker thrives. Only James Harden has scored more points in this situation than Walker this season.
There are enough point guards in great spots tonight that you don't have to force Walker into your cash game lineups. However, he has a chance to go off at low ownership, which makes him a very attractive tournament option.
