3 Under-the-Radar Daily Fantasy Basketball Plays for 4/12/17
Greg Monroe, C, Milwaukee Bucks
FanDuel Price: $5,600
Why He Will Go Overlooked:
Several teams have players resting for the last day of the NBA regular season, and the Milwaukee Bucks are one of those squads. However, the players resting are all wings, so most daily fantasy players will likely look towards the replacement players over an already-established rotation player such as Greg Monroe.
Why You Should Use Him:
Monroe has stepped up his game for the Bucks to close out the season, topping 30 FanDuel points in back-to-back games. He'll look to carry that momentum into tonight's matchup against the Boston Celtics.
While the Bucks sitting Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Tony Snell, and Matthew Dellavedova doesn't necessarily provide a clear path to huge minutes for Monroe, he should be expected to take on a much larger role in the offense in the minutes he does get.
According to RotoGrinders' Court IQ, Monroe has maintained a team-high 1.29 FanDuel points per minute with those four (and Jabari Parker) off the floor, which is up 0.20 points per minute from his season average. He has also seen a 2.9% increase in usage rate without those players on the court.
Monroe should have no problem making good use of his expanded role against a Boston team that has allowed the ninth-most FanDuel points to opposing centers and ranks 27th in rebounding rate. In two games against Boston this season, Monroe has scored 28.1 and 42.1 FanDuel points, so we know he can be productive in this matchup.
Monroe's fluctuating minutes make him tough to trust in cash games, especially on a slate with several appealing center options. His likely additional usage and plus-matchup make him a terrific tournament option, though.
