The Lakers are one of the few teams in the NBA that aren't really contending for a playoff spot (they're five-and-a-half games out), but have no real reason to tank either, since Boston or Philadelphia will get their pick one way or another. They are in some sort of win-loss limbo, where the outcome of their games have literally no bearing on their own future.

As for the Kings, Mavericks, Suns, and Grizzlies, they are in a heated race for the bottom. The Grizzlies are your current Tankathon.com champions, having lost a downright ridiculous 15 games in a row.
