NBA MVP Watch: Stephen Curry Deserved to Win Unanimously
Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder
nERD Score: 15.1
Team Record: 55-27
• NBA All-Star Game MVP
• Second in Total Assists (834) and Steals (163)
• Leader in Triple-Doubles (18), Second in Double-Doubles (54)
It's safe to say that Russell Westbrook's regular season wasn't so regular -- rather, it was quite prolific. It got to the point where we were expecting a triple-double every single game (or at least very close to one).
A game involving a barrage of 15-plus assists became less and less impressive because, well... it happened a dozen times.
Westbrook's unfair ability to maintain maximum speed throughout entire games has elevated him to newfound glory. It will be curious to see how he adapts to a potentially new lineup if his superstar teammate decides to leave -- in 10 games without Kevin Durant, the Thunder were 3-7 and Westbrook saw his numbers drop to 13.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game.
