5 NBA FanDuel Value Plays to Target on 11/27/19
One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at three players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.
Khem Birch, PF, Orlando Magic ($4,200)
The Orlando Magic are dealing with a number of injuries right now and that opens up some potential value.
Both Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vucevic are out for the Magic, and they need help in their frontcourt. Khem Birch has jumped into the starting lineup and has played 21 minutes or more in three straight games, but he's posted 16.8 FanDuel points or fewer in each game. The minutes are great; the production is not. There is a path for Birch to reach value tonight due to a few factors. The Magic are dead last in the league in terms of pace, so legitimately any matchup for them is a 'pace-up' spot.
Tonight, they are up against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are 27 in the league for pace. Pace-up, but not by a large margin.
The Cavaliers are also allowing 46.5 FanDuel points per game to power forwards this season -- the 10th-most in the league. Between the soft defensive matchup and a slight, slight increase in pace, there is a path for Birch to hit his 21.4-point projection tonight.
Frank Kaminsky, PF, Phoenix Suns ($4,000)
With a 241-point over/under, you absolutely want some exposure to the Washington Wizards at Phoenix Suns game.
Frank Kaminsky has been seeing plenty of minutes lately since Aron Baynes is out for the Suns, which will be the case again tonight. Our projections have Kaminsky as the best overall value on tonight's slate, regardless of position. He is projected for 25.94 minutes and 25.5 FanDuel points. All of that seems very likely since the Wizards are allowing 60.3 FanDuel points per game to centers, which is dead last in the league. Kaminsky is listed as a power forward, but starts at center -- take note of that.
Both Phoenix and Washington are in the top-10 when it comes to pace this season, setting us up for what could be the best fantasy game of the entire slate -- all offense, no defense.
Omari Spellman, PF, Golden State Warriors ($4,200)
Under $5K and playing nearly 30 minutes a game? Sign me up.
With Draymond Green missing three straight games for the Golden State Warriors and being listed as questionable for tonight's game, we should be seeing more of Omari Spellman. His price hasn't changed too much despite the fact he has played 29 minutes or more in seven of his last eight games. In the last three when Green has been out, Spellman has produced 24 FanDuel points or more in each game, with two of the games being at 29 points or more.
Spellman is up against the Chicago Bulls, who are allowing a whopping 52.6 FanDuel points per game to power forwards, which is, as you guessed it, dead last in the league. It's an ideal spot for Spellman, who has already worked his way into plenty of usage.
Norman Powell, SG, Toronto Raptors ($5,000)
The New York Knicks at Toronto Raptors game shouldn't see too much ownership tonight, but we have value here.
At $5K, we have Norman Powell, who is a starter and taking a ton of shots recently. Over his last five games, Powell has taken 11, 15, 11, 15, and 15 field goals with 5, 8, 4, 8, and 8 of them being three-point attempts. Powell is taking a ton of shots for a player who is clearly the third option at best in the Raptors' offense.
When it comes to shooting guards tonight, Powell is our second-best value play on the slate, projected for 34 minutes and 27 FanDuel points.
Tyus Jones, PG, Memphis Grizzlies ($3,600)
With Ja Morant listed as a game-time decision tonight, we could find some value on the Memphis Grizzlies.
We have no final word yet, but with Morant as a GTD, we could see Tyus Jones get the start. Jones is only $100 more than the minimum salary, who could be seeing 25-plus minutes if he is the starter. This is something to monitor as we are approaching roster lock, as Jones can change your roster construction drastically.
With a 226-point over/under, this is a solid fantasy game to target as both the Los Angeles Clippers and the Grizzlies are in the top-11 when it comes to pace.
