The above video really summarizes the entire game. The Suns put up no resistance and let the Clippers shoot 53.5 percent from the field and a season-high 52.4 percent from three point range. The Clippers, on the other hand, completely shot down the Suns’ offense. The Suns shot just 36.3 percent from the field and 17.6 percent from behind the arc. I wish there was some interesting insights about the game, but sometimes, it is what it is. This was the Clippers recording another double-digit win to extend their current win streak to 13.
Tonight’s Game
Tonight’s game caps off a marathon of Christmas Day games that has become an NBA tradition. The Clippers take on the 15-13 Denver Nuggets, who would make the playoffs if the season ended today. The Clippers have only beaten two teams that are currently playoff-bound during their current win streak, the Bulls and the T'Wolves. One thing to be noted, however: the Wolves were not playoff bound when the Clippers edged out a one point win to start the win streak.
The Nuggets aren’t exactly one of the NBA’s elite teams, but they do have an offense which ranks eighth in offensive efficiency. The last time the Clippers played a top 10 offense was against the Nets back on November 23rd. The Clippers lost by 10 that game, but it wasn’t because of their defense; they only managed to score 76 points.
Tonight’s game should prove as a nice quiz (I have a hard time calling the Nuggets a test) to see how much the Clippers have pulled it together since that four game losing streak. I expect the Clippers to continue playing at the same high level, and barring them being lethargic after Christmas, they should notch another double digit win and extend their win streak.
