The Best of the Best
LeBron James - It's Bron Bron against Kyle Korver's 105 defensive rating and 7.3 percent true rebound rate? This should be good. It is indeed those 7.8 projected rebounds that set LeBron apart tonight. The Hawks are already 26th in the NBA in offensive rebounding percentage, and that's not likely to be helped by Zaza Pachulia's absence from tonight's game. The Heat aren't typically rebounding masters, but they should at least be able to keep even with the Hawks, with LeBron pulling in his fair share.
Josh Smith - But then again, you know, the Heat aren't exactly rebounding masters. Miami sits 27th in offensive rebound rate and 16th in defensive rebound rate, two rare weak points for a team that sits as one of the NBA's all-around best. Couple that with a .514 effective field goal percentage (eFG%) allowed to opposing power forwards, the highest eFG% allowed to any position on the floor, and Josh Smith is the only Hawks player we trust tonight.
Kemba Walker - Sure, Boston may be strong defensively. But with Ramon Sessions out of the lineup, the Bobcats don't have too many places to turn for scoring. Only three active Bobcats have a usage percentage above 20 percent of Charlotte's plays: Ben Gordon (28.7 percent), Gerald Henderson (22.7 percent), and the only one of the three that averages over 30 minutes per game, Kemba Walker (25.1 percent). Considering his recent output of 15.2 PPG and 7.0 APG over his last five, I see no reason why Charlotte would go away from him now.
Top Mid-Range Values
Tobias Harris - Yup, he's still around, and he's still fantasy relevant. Now that the initial shock has warn off, Harris's cost is now down to more manageable levels. What isn't down, though, is his fantasy points prospects: he has at least 15 points in three of his past four games and at least seven rebounds in three of those games as well. Tonight's matchup against the Lakers, who are still without Pau Gasol and allow opposing SFs to shoot .519 eFG%, should give Harris yet another chance to hit those milestones.
Earl Clark - With the Lakers streaking and the Magic, well, not, you would expect to see a few more Lakers dotting our optimized rosters. But it's only Earl Clark who still provides the value with his cost at more manageable levels. The Magic are a mixed bag rebound (fourth in DRB% and 26th in ORB%), but for the first time in a while, you may see Clark with some points. He has only scored in double-digits twice in his last eight games, but the Magic are 26th in defensive efficiency and allow power forwards to shoot .503 eFG% from the field.
Wesley Matthews - The good news: 24 points against the Hornets and double-digit scoring in each of his past four games shows that Wesley Matthews is starting to heat up. The bad news: the Grizzlies have the second-best defensive rating and third-slowest pace in the NBA. The good news: Wesley Matthews is average 16 points per game in two contests against Memphis this season. The best news: Matthews remains extraordinarily cheap in most Daily Fantasy formats.
