College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Friday 10/2/20 Single-Game Slate

Week 5 of the college football season continues Friday night as the Brigham Young Cougars play host to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5 times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

MVP Consideration

Zach Wilson, Brigham Young ($16,000) - Wilson has accounted for six of the Cougars' 13 offensive touchdowns through two games this season. The junior quarterback has tossed at least two touchdowns in six out of the last seven games, dating back to 2019. On tap is a matchup with the Louisiana Tech defense. The Bulldogs' pass defense has been vaporized by opposing signal-callers. They have allowed 670 passing yards in only two games.

Lopini Katoa, Brigham Young ($14,000) - I debated about which Brigham Young running back to write about. Both Katoa and Tyler Allgeier split time in the Cougars' backfield. Both players have been outstanding through the early parts of the 2020 season. However, I'll side with Katoa because of his ability to make plays in the passing game. Through two games, Katoa has rushed for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns while also catching 7 passes for 67 yards. He also has a touchdown reception.

Luke Anthony, Louisiana Tech ($13,500) - Anthony has split time at quarterback with Aaron Allen in the Bulldogs' first two games this season. However, it appears that Anthony has finally won the starting job. The senior has thrown for 463 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 1 interception in two games this season. Anthony has also recorded a rushing touchdown. He should only get better as he becomes more accustomed to Louisiana Tech's offensive system after transferring from Abilene Christian in the offseason.

Gunner Romney, Brigham Young ($11,500) - Romney is off to a phenomenal start in 2020 for the Brigham Young Cougars. The junior has 9 receptions for 272 yards and 1 touchdown through two games this season. He leads the Cougars in targets with 13, per Pro Football Focus. Romney should have no problem taking advantage of Louisiana Tech's vulnerable defense. The Bulldogs have been flamed for eight touchdown passes in only two games.

Others to consider: Tyler Allgeier and Justin Henderson

Value Plays

Dax Milne, Brigham Young ($10,500) - As mentioned above, the Louisiana Tech secondary is a major liability. Milne is the Brigham Young Cougars' second-leading wide receiver this season. Through two games, he has 10 receptions, 175 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown reception. Additionally, he is actively involved in the Cougars' run game. The junior has received three carries in each of the first two games.

Adrian Hardy, Louisiana Tech ($10,000) - Hardy was the Bulldogs' top returning wide receiver from 2019 despite missing three games. Unsurprisingly, through two games, he leads all Louisiana Tech pass catchers in targets (18), receptions (10), and receiving yards (150), per Pro Football Focus. Look for him to be heavily involved in Louisiana Tech's passing game on Friday night especially with the Bulldogs being listed as a 24-point underdog.

Smoke Harris, Louisiana Tech ($7,000) - Harris led the Bulldogs with 48 receptions in 2019, and through two games, he's been the second most targeted Louisiana Tech pass catcher, per Pro Football Focus. Smoke has recorded 9 receptions, 87 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown on 12 targets this season. The best part is his cheap salary allows you to load on up the high salary players.

Miles Davis, Brigham Young ($6,500) - Admittedly, the pickings are slim for salary relief on this single-game slate. Davis is a player that will likely fly under the radar but could pay off especially if Brigham Young races out to a large lead. The freshman is a three-star prospect blessed with exceptional speed. He's one of the young players that the Cougars would like to develop as the season marches on. Currently, he is one of the Cougars' kick returners. In Brigham Young's 48-7 win last week, Davis saw action late in the game on offense. The speedster had 2 receptions for 30 yards and 5 carries for 20 yards.

Others to consider: Wayne Toussant, Griffin Herbert, Neil Pau'u, Isaiah Graham, Masen Wake, Isaac Rex, and CeeJay Powell
