McVay: Rams' Tutu Atwell 'a real bright spot' in minicamp
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said wide receiver Tutu Atwell has been "a real bright spot" for the team in minicamp practices this offseason.
Atwell entered the league as a second-round pick in 2021, but didn't see the field until last season. The diminutive receiver got extensive work in the back half of 2022 as the Rams limped to the finish line, and has reportedly been doing well this offseason as one of the team's top healthy options. The Rams truly lack depth behind Cooper Kupp (ankle), so Atwell could find back-end fantasy productivity in 2023.
Atwell played at least 50% of the team's offensive snaps in pretty much all of their final 7 games of the 2022 season, posting 16 catches on 30 targets for 182 yards in those games. Those raw numbers don't look great, but the Rams' passing offense mustered just 989 total passing yards in those 7 games, meaning Atwell was responsible for 18.4% of it. A near 20% target share could be a much more productive opportunity for fantasy football with Matthew Stafford back under center this season.
