Nico Collins impressing in Texans' training camp
Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins has been impressing in training camp ahead of the 2023 season.
Collins is set to begin the season as Houston's top wide receiver after the pre-draft trade of former teammate Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys. Collins has reportedly been living up to that WR1 billing this offseason, displaying a chemistry with soon-to-be starter C.J. Stroud, the second overall pick from the 2023 NFL Draft.
Collins dealt with injuries for a significant part of the 2022 campaign, but did show signs of growth after a so-so rookie season. While he finished with 31.9 receiving yards per game in 2021, he upped his weekly production to 48.1 yards per game in 2022 despite the Texans' offensive struggles. He's projected to finish as the WR52 this season.
