Texans put Dameon Pierce on ice for preseason tilt vs. Patriots
Houston Texans back Dameon Pierce will not play in the team's first preseason game of the year against the New England Patriots on Thursday.
The Texans are trotting out a whole lot of their presumed Week 1 starters for their first preseason game of the year, but incumbent RB1 Dameon Pierce will not be among them as the team keeps him on ice. Pierce notably earned his billing as the team's top back after an impressive 2022 preseason, though it seems the team finds him too important now to risk an in injury in a preseason game.
Pierce is numberFire's RB24 for the upcoming season and is projected to handle the lion's share of the Texans' rushing workload this season. He was not much of a pass-catcher in his first season, but growth in that department could help him take a step towards becoming a fantasy RB1 this year.
