Rapoport: Ezekiel Elliott expected to sign with Patriots
According to NFL's Ian Rapoport, the New England Patriots are expected to sign former Dallas Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott to a one-year contract.
Elliott has been without a team for most of the offseason after the Cowboys released him, but it looks like he'll find a home in New England for the upcoming season. The Patriots already have Rhamondre Stevenson lined up for a heavy workload, but Elliott should still pick up a not-insignificant role with the team.
Elliott lost a fair amount of work to Tony Pollard in his final season with the Cowboys, but was still that team's go-to guy in short-yardage situations. The Patriots likely have their eyes on a similar role for Elliott this year, and he could factor heavily into their red zone offense if he can avoid fumbles.
