Chiefs' Travis Kelce (knee) reportedly avoids long-term injury

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce's knee injury is not believed to be long-term, reports Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Kelce is in doubt for Thursday night's opening game against the Detroit Lions, but it sounds like he might be able to return within a few weeks. However, the Chiefs are likely going to be extremely cautious with their veteran star tight end, so Kelce could be limited once he's active. Noah Gray will take over as the Chiefs' top tight end if Kelce is ruled out. There will also be more targets available for Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Skyy Moore, and Kadarius Toney (knee).

Kelce registered a 24.8% target share and 24.2% air yard share on the Chiefs in 2022 while averaging 15.3 FanDuel points per game. Gray caught 28 passes on 34 targets for 299 yards and 1 touchdown while playing just over half of the offensive snaps. He also averaged 8.8 yards per target and a mediocre 1.20 yards per route run.
