Dameon Pierce (ankle) likely out Week 9 for Texans
Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (ankle) is not expected to play Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, reports Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.
What It Means:
Pierce will miss at least one game, but his injury isn't expected to be a long-term concern. Devin Singletary will lead the Texans' backfield on Sunday and Mike Boone will be more involved. Pierce barely out-snapped Singletary (25-23) in Week 8 and they had 12 touches each. After averaging 19.2 opportunities over the first five games, Pierce is only averaging 12.5 opportunities over the last two contests.
The Bucs are allowing the fifth-fewest FanDuel points per game to running backs and their run defense ranks third-best in numberFire's opponent-adjusted NEP model.
