Texans' Tank Dell (ankle) undergoes season-ending surgery
Houston Texans head coach Demeco Ryans confirmed Monday that wide receiver Tank Dell (ankle) underwent season-ending surgery following the team's Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos.
The Texans pulled out an impressive win in Week 13, but not without losing their breakout rookie pass catcher in the process; Dell had his leg rolled up on while blocking on the team's first quarter rushing score and had to be carted from the field. Dell showcased an ability to get open down the field seemingly at will during his brief but exciting rookie campaign and will hopefully return at full strength for the 2024 campaign.
Dell caught fire in Week 2 of the season and quickly established himself as one of the top options for rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. He'll finish his debut season with 47 catches for 709 yards and 7 touchdowns. His absence was clearly felt throughout the remainder of Sunday's game, with the team's other receivers behind him and WR1 Nico Collins finishing the outing with just 9 combined receiving yards. Look for Noah Brown, John Metchie, and Robert Woods to try to fill the void left by Dell's absence over the final weeks of the season.
