3 Daily Fantasy Hockey Stacks for 3/8/16
San Jose Sharks
Players to Stack: Brent Burns, Joe Thornton
FanDuel Price: $14,300
DraftKings Price: $13,900
Thornton plays on the Sharks' first line at even strength, Burns is on the second defensive pairing, and they play together on the top power play unit.
There are only three Sharks players this season with 40 or more points, and Thornton (who leads the team) and Burns are two of them, with 63 and 59 points respectively. Burns also leads the team in shots on goal by over 100, and is second in the NHL with 282, while Thornton is third in the league with 48 assists. And his 63 points rank seventh. They are two of the most productive players in the league, and getting them against an Oilers team that struggles on the defensive end makes them great targets in daily fantasy.
Edmonton is near the bottom of the league in just about every defensive category. They are allowing the sixth highest goals against per game, the fourth highest Corsi Against per game, and rank below league average, at 18th, in the Penalty Kill Percentage. The Sharks, on the other hand, are scoring the fourth most goals per game, and rank fifth in Power Play Percentage.
The Oilers will be starting Cam Talbot in goal. While Talbot has put together some strong performances lately, he still only ranks 16th with a .919 Save Percentage on the season, and the defense in front of him doesn't do him any favors, leading to a 2.51 Goals Against Average. The Sharks match up very well against the Oilers, and Thornton and Burns are always threats to put up big numbers. Their upside is huge tonight.
