NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Monday 3/11/19
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
Mikko Koskinen ($7,800): The Edmonton Oilers are projected to start Koskinen against the New York Rangers on Monday night. The Oilers' goalie has made it look easy lately, winning four straights despite facing at least 30 shots in each game. Three of those were quality starts. New York allows 3.84 goals per game, which could offer Koskinen a bit of a cushion in picking up another win here too. Just make sure Koskinen plays on Monday, as he was held out on Saturday due to the flu. Anthony Stolarz ($7,200) is a very good punt play if Koskinen cannot go. Carter Hart ($8,400) could be a nice cash option as well in his return from an ankle injury.
High-Priced Skaters
John Tavares ($8,100): Tavares and the Toronto Maple Leafs are in a "show-me" game on Monday night. With a clutch three-point effort over the weekend, Tavares is in a good position to perform well on Monday night. The center finds ways to generate chances and will likely draw the depth of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tavares has points in four straight games and 10 shots on net in that span. He also generated a total of 13 scoring chances in those contests. Mika Zibanejad ($7,300) is another good choice tonight against the Oilers and Sebastian Aho.($7,700) could be in a reasonable position against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night.
Patrick Kane ($9,100): Honestly, Kane is difficult to fade tonight as he faces Arizona, who could be due for a lackluster performance. Arizona has won eight of their last ten games while scoring three goals a contest.The question becomes how long can Darcy Kuemper keep up this hot streak? Chicago features one of the best power plays in the league since January 1 at nearly 25%, and Kane has double-digit FanDuel points in two straight contests. He has averaged nearly six shots per game in his last ten outings. There are options like Alex DeBrincat and others to stack along with Kane. Toronto's Mitchell Marner ($8,300) is a target, too; he has almost the same floor as Kane at this point. There is also Leon Draisaitl ($8,300) who has solid GPP potential against the Rangers on Monday night.
Value Skaters
Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($3,500): The injuries and trades in Ottawa move Pageau up to the top line, which means a bit more power-play time as well. Philadelphia can be a bit of an adventure defensively (15 goals yielded in their last five games) and have a penalty kill which is just 76% at home. Pageau's speed may cause more mistakes than usual from the Flyers' top-six. The Ottawa center could benefit from that and has fired 16 pucks on net in his last five starts. His ice time is that of a fringe top-line forward currently. He's not likely to stay priced as low as $3,500 for long. Christian Dvorak ($3,100) and Ryan Strome ($3,800) are value options on Monday night, and should be well below 1% owned.
Ryan Hartman ($3,200): Hartman plays a heavy game on the bottom-six and can generate chances at will when he is focused. The fourth-liner is a risky play but he is a nuisance to play against and will play against one of the worst bottom sixes in league memory. However, the winger has shown an unusually high floor with three combined shots and blocked shots per contest over the past three games. Brian Gibbons ($3,200) is another value play as Ottawa is so cheap that you are being baited to play some of these players in order to stack the higher-priced talent on Monday night.
