NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Tuesday 3/12/19
A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?
It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel, because it's a ton of fun. And our analysis and projections can help you win.
To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.
Goalie to Target
John Gibson ($7,400): The Anaheim Ducks are projected to start Gibson against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. The Ducks' goalie has four quality starts in his last five games, including a huge 37-save effort against the Montreal Canadiens in his last start. Nashville is a better road team than people realize, but with the high amount of shots and scoring chances Anaheim yields, Gibson becomes a low-priced GPP play on Tuesday. Anaheim has been better at home as far as limiting goals of late. They have yielded just 12 goals in their previous five games. See who starts for the Calgary Flames as both goalies are right around $8,000 and Calgary carries a -400 on the moneyline.
High-Priced Skaters
Tyler Seguin ($7,700): Seguin and the Dallas Stars are in a good position against a fading Buffalo Sabres team on Tuesday night. Also, Buffalo has no Jack Eichel in the lineup due to a suspension. Seguin has not enjoyed a multiple-point effort in eight contests but is still creating scoring chances and has double-digit FanDuel points in his last two outings. Buffalo yields 3.06 goals per game at home and has allowed 19 goals in their last five games. Even the normally solid penalty kill has given up more scoring chances per 60 of late as Buffalo defensively has had trouble exiting their own zone. Sidney Crosby ($9,300) and Patrice Bergeron ($8,400) are also very good plays on Tuesday night.
John Gaudreau ($7,300): Honestly, Gaudreau endured a lot of bad luck on Sunday night against the Vegas Golden Knights. He attempted more than 10 shots, hit the net nine times, had seven scoring chances, and even hit a post. What more could you ask of him? The Calgary Flames forward enjoys a plus matchup against a New Jersey Devils team that resembles an AHL lineup. New Jersey has given up nearly four goals a game on the road this season and has a league-worst eight wins away from home. Teams tend to get off to quick starts against New Jersey on the road. Gaudreau expects to be matched up against the Travis Zajac line. For stacking purposes, Calgary's second line may be something to explore in the mid-priced options. As for other high-priced wingers, Brad Marchand ($8,800) projects high on Tuesday night against a tired Columbus Blue Jackets team.
Value Skaters
Christian Dvorak ($3,400): Dvorak exceeded value for the third straight game on Monday night against the Chicago Blackhawks but is still likely to be a low-owned play on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues. The Blues give up more than three goals a game at home and have allowed 16 goals over their last five games. The inconsistency follows their hot streak which may be good for those who want to play Arizona players. The Coyotes are not as under-priced as New Jersey, but there are more values of a contrarian nature. Oskar Sundqvist ($3,500) may also be worth a play for St. Louis as he is still seeing top-six ice time due to increased power-play usage.
Robert Thomas ($3,700): Thomas gets the first shot at the top line with Vladimir Tarasenko out due to an upper-body injury. The St. Louis winger has the speed and skill to play with Ryan O'Reilly and his price makes for an easier stack on Tuesday. The only question will be how long does St. Louis stick with these lines. Will Thomas get that extended look on the man advantage? Those are the risks but the price does outweigh them. Nick Ritchie ($3,500) can be inconsistent but his price on the Anaheim second line may be worth a look.
