4 NHL FanDuel Values to Target on 3/16/21

Seven more games are on the Tuesday night NHL slate. So, who can you value in NHL DFS?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal more risk. This is especially true on tonight's slate, where there are lots of lower-salaried plays. Plugging in these options will afford you more chances to play some studs, as well.

The Tuesday night schedule brings us seven games. Let's go searching for value!

Teddy Blueger, Center, Pittsburgh Penguins

FanDuel Salary: $3,700

The Pittsburgh Penguins' center has four real-world points in his last five games and is a pivot that will occasionally block some shots as well. His floor is okay at around two shots and blocked shots total per game. Pittsburgh is facing a weary Boston Bruins team that has been struggling against middle-six centers who do not go up against the Patrice Bergeron line.

He had double-digit FanDuel points three times in the last four contests. The Penguin has enjoyed a very good season with 15 real-world points overall. He has become a value option because Blueger averages around 15 minutes a night and does get some opportunities.

If you want to try to get creative, Yanni Gourde ($4,000) may see some more top-six ice time for Tampa Bay against the Dallas Stars.

Pavel Zacha, Wing, New Jersey Devils

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

Some worry about the two goals negated on Sunday as a sign from God that the New Jersey Devils are cursed. Whatever the case actually is, Pavel Zacha has 3+ shots on goal and scoring chances in three of the previous four games. With his increased ice time (17+ minutes a night of late), that means more chances.

The Buffalo Sabres have lost 11 straight games overall and New Jersey has lost 11 straight games at home. Something does have to give and that may be Buffalo in theory. They have yielded 47 goals in this stretch. Zacha could be very valuable with his speed and ability to counter in transition.

If Zacha makes one uncomfortable, Daniel Sprong ($3,200) has goals in his last two appearances for the Washington Capitals.

Matt Grzelcyk, Defenseman, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $3,900

Value is somewhat in abundance on Tuesday night. Matthew Grzelcyk gets the power-play time that baffles some DFS owners but he thrives with it. He comes off a night where he fired eight shots on 12 attempts, scored a goal, and even blocked a shot in 21 minutes against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Defensive utilization aids Grzelcyk as he never usually sees more than 22 minutes of ice time and averages less than 19 minutes per contest. Usually, even when the team is not well-rested, Grzelcyk is sheltered and will not suffer from fatigue.

P.K. Subban ($3,900) was a stud on Sunday evening against the New York Islanders and honestly should have had his first multiple-point night of the season. Maybe tonight is the night.

Jonathan Bernier, Goalie, Detroit Red Wings

FanDuel Salary: $6,900

With shot volume a good possibility of being high, Jonathan Bernier could represent good value on Tuesday night versus the Carolina Hurricanes. He has seen 117 shots over his last three starts and stopped 107 of them.

This features danger because Detroit's only hope of winning arguably lies with Bernier. When he is absolutely incredible, Detroit has a chance of winning. There is that and the fact that the Red Wings have only one win when Bernier does not start.

The goaltending position is the perpetual waiting for confirmations again. Look around this afternoon to see if any backups unexpectedly start. Can Mackenzie Blackwood ($6,700) start to look more like his normal self against the Buffalo Sabres tonight?
