3 NHL FanDuel Studs to Target on Friday 10/22/21

In any daily fantasy lineup, spending up in any daily fantasy lineup is how to get the superstars and the highest upside players in your lineup.

In NHL DFS, it’s different from paying up in sports like NBA or NFL. Someone can be one of the highest salaried players at his position and put up a total dud of a performance, and paying that much for him would be a huge mistake. Let’s make sure we are paying up in the right spots when building our lineups tonight.

Friday night has four games on the NHL slate. Let's spend up to up our potential.

Connor McDavid, Center, Edmonton Oilers

FanDuel Salary: $9,300

It was Connor McDavid and Connor McDavid. The crazy 2021-22 NHL season has picked up where 2021 in the bubble did for the Edmonton Oilers' center. He has 11 real-world points in just four games. Against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, McDavid netted two goals and added an assist.

Does it matter that he is playing in back-to-back games? No. Why?

The matchup is fun tonight because McDavid is going up against the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas is allowing the most DFS points to centers in the NHL. It has been a rough start for the Golden Knights.

It does not hurt that Oilers like Evan Bouchard ($3,600) can be used for stacking and to take the salary per player down a notch or two on Friday night.

Brad Marchand, Wing, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $8,300

The Boston Bruins enjoy playing the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo. More importantly, Brad Marchand has started off quite well with three goals. The strange thing is all three goals have been at even strength. Boston's power play top-unit has been slightly lacking.

On the season, Marchand has nine scoring chances and five higher-quality ones. Buffalo comes into this game with a 3-0 record, but they have historically had problems slowing down Boston's "Perfection Line". That line is one to target tonight as three of the top six skaters in our projections come from that line.

This top line is the best stack for Friday night based on rest and potential production.

Morgan Rielly, Defenseman, Toronto Maple Leafs

FanDuel Salary: $6,100

Morgan Rielly is tied for the highest-projected defenseman on this four-game slate, and he'll likely be a popular target.

The San Jose Sharks may be due for some negative regression while the Toronto Maple Leafs are due for more pucks to go into the net. Rielly has three assists, 12 shots, and six blocked shots on the season.

With Rielly carrying so much load as far as ice-time (24:56 a night), expect the Toronto defender to see a lot of chances in this one.
