4 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Monday 1/24/22

With Boston's goaltending issues, could Jamie Drysdale have under-the-radar upside tonight?

Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy -- but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.

Monday night brings seven games on the slate. It is time to go a little more budget-friendly.

Charlie Coyle, Center, Boston Bruins

FanDuel Salary: $4,100

The Boston Bruins' center had been in some drought offensively. He went nine straight games without a goal or assist -- all while averaging around 15 minutes of ice time a night.

Coyle has a blocked shot in six straight games, but his shot generation is cause for concern. Saturday was the first time he had three shots (one goal, one assist) on goal since December 4th versus Tampa Bay.

The center has a reasonable home matchup to keep it going against the Anaheim Ducks. Though he has 9 goals and 9 assists in 38 contests, Coyle has a decent opportunity to get on the scoresheet again on Monday night.

Boston is an underrated option on Monday night, and Coyle is a risky value option that may pay off.

Matthew Boldy, Wing, Minnesota Wild

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

Matthew Boldy, during his early call-up, has two goals and two assists in six games for the Minnesota Wild. However, his last game against Chicago was a complete goose egg across the board. He did play 18 minutes and is expected to stay on the second line at even strength on Monday., though

With the league-worst Montreal Canadiens in town, Boldy is a viable option. He does have three-plus shots in half his contests. Also, the winger adds one blocked shot a game, adding to his floor appeal.

There is a bit of risk but Minnesota is the highest projected goal-scoring team on the night at 3.56 goals.

With his perch on the power play, and top-six even strength time on ice high, Boldy still has to be considered in play.

Jamie Drysdale, Defenseman, Anaheim Ducks

FanDuel Salary: $4,000

On the Ducks of their tilt with the Bruins, Jamie Drysdale is a young defenseman with some upside.

He does have two assists in his previous four contests, and his slightly increased power-play time has led to a gradual upward trend of overall ice time. Drysdale is now averaging 19:46 of playing time a night.

Drysdale has 10 shots on goal and 3 blocked shots in his previous 4 games.

With the ups and downs of Tuukka Rask on tap, Drysdale may be worth a look on Monday night.

Sam Montembeault, Goalie, Montreal Canadiens

FanDuel Salary: $6,700

Goaltending for the Montreal Canadiens has been interesting only because the goalies face a lot of shots. Sam Montembeault, before his minor injury, has faced 104 shots in his previous two starts.

Though Minnesota has struggled of late, the Canadiens have given up a whopping 42.5 shots per Monteambeault start. Overall, Montreal is a beacon for struggling offenses and gives up the most DFS points to forwards and defensemen overall.

Expect Montembeault, the projected starter, to be under fire once again against the Wild.

For his salary alone, the Montreal goaltender could be worth a look on Monday seeing that type of shot volume.
