3 Daily Fantasy NHL Stacks for Wednesday 3/2/22

The Nashville Predators are in a great spot on Wednesday against the struggling Seattle Kraken. Which other teams should we look to stack on this slate?

In daily fantasy hockey, stacking is a key strategy in tournaments. We want to correlate our lineups with up to four players to maximize our upside, as if one player on a line is scoring goals, it's likely that his linemates are getting assists as well. Ideally, we'll want players that will get a lot of ice time together on an even-strength line and a power-play line. Two good resources for line combinations are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceoff.com, so be sure to check those sites for updated line information.

Just four games are scheduled for Wednesday night, but we still have some intriguing stacks to pick from.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs are unavoidable on these small slates. They were the top stack going into Monday's slate and are once again the top of the slate -- especially when you consider the matchup they have on Wednesday.

Interestingly enough, the worst player on the first line on Monday was Auston Matthews ($10,000). He was somehow held without an official shot on goal. Obviously, it's just a fluke in one game, and if he didn't attempt six shots maybe there would be more reason for concern. His linemates kept up their good play as Mitchell Marner ($8,800) had two assists and Michael Bunting ($6,300) scored his 19th goal of the season. Bunting's production most people did not see coming.

Even with the second line slumping, they make for a nice, contrarian way to stack the Leafs. William Nylander ($7,200) has goals in back-to-back games, but John Tavares ($7,100) is the one who's really been struggling. He hasn't scored since January 29th. We can still stack these guys as they will link up on the first power play on the team that's the league's best with a man advantage. Alexander Kerfoot ($5,200) is also playable if stacking this line.

We have to show interest in Toronto again tonight in this spot. They'll take on the Buffalo Sabres at home tonight. The Leafs' are massive -400 favorites and have an implied team total of 4.19 goals. Those are about as high as you see in the NHL, so we know the bookmakers expect Toronto to roll tonight.

Nashville Predators

The Nashville Predators have not taken the step back that many predicted heading into the season. They are in the top wild card spot in the West and are looking like a playoff team. They aren't the most dangerous offense in the league, but they do have a nice top line that we can stack.

Nashville's season is a tale of rejuvenated forwards. Matt Duchene ($7,000) had just 13 points last season and now is up to 46 points in 49 games this year. Mikael Granlund ($4,900) played 51 games last season and only scored 27 points. Through 51 games this season, though, he has 41 points. Filip Forsberg ($8,400) had just 12 goals in 39 games last season but now has 27 in 40 this season. This line was put together near the beginning of the season, and they've all found success playing together.

The Predators will face the Seattle Kraken tonight. Things seem to be getting worse for Seattle as the season goes by. They are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games and have allowed the second-most goals in the league.

We have to consider Roman Josi ($7,000) when stacking the Preds. He's so involved on the power play with this trio, so he correlates perfectly with them. He leads Nashville with 53 points on the season, so he definitely warrants a place in this stack.

Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars are still hunting down a playoff spot. They are just two points out of a wild card spot. They get a tough test tonight, but they have a few things going in their favor that make them interesting.

The Stars' top line has been one of the best in the league this season. Roope Hintz ($6,900) leads the team in goals (23). Jason Robertson ($8,300) has taken another step forward from his impressive season, bettering his points total from last year already in fewer games. Old reliable, Joe Pavelski ($7,900), is the third member of this line and leads the team with 55 points. This line has produced the third-most goals at five-on-five in the league this season.

The second line would also be a fine stack to play tonight. It consists of Tyler Seguin ($5,700), Jamie Benn ($4,900), and Denis Gurianov ($4,600). They contributed to two goals on Sunday, and now, it appears that they will all play together on the second power play. It's hard to find good power play correlation for this low of a salary -- especially on this small slate.

Dallas will be at home against the Los Angeles Kings tonight. The Kings have been pretty solid defensively this season, but they did just allow seven goals to the Boston Bruins on Monday. L.A. also sports the fourth-worst penalty kill in the league.

If you want to get contrarian, the first line is a good way to go. If you want a complimentary stack to a more expensive one, the second line is a perfect fit for that.
