3 NHL FanDuel Value Plays to Target on Wednesday 3/16/22
Spending lower in any daily fantasy lineup is a way to incorporate some diversity into your roster. In NHL DFS, there is typically more value in this strategy but also a good deal of risk, too. The right low-salary plays can give you good production while affording you more chances to roster high-salary studs.
Wednesday night has four games on the schedule. Let's dig for value!
Erik Haula, Center, Boston Bruins
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
While Erik Haula has not produced much at all in his past three games, a matchup against the Minnesota Wild beckons on Wednesday.
He does have at least three scoring chances in three of his past four appearances despite the empty goal column. Meanwhile, Minnesota has yielded 50 goals in their last 11 games.
Importantly, the Boston Bruins' top-line may have been over-utilized in Tuesday's overtime win, leaving the second line as a more viable option on Wednesday night.
He had a four-game real-world point streak earlier in March, and this revenge narrative won't hurt. Haula did spend his first four seasons in Minnesota.
Ryan Donato, Wing, Seattle Kraken
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
With the increased production of late, would it hurt Dave Hakstol to give Ryan Donato a few more minutes of playing time?
He has two goals and an assist in his last four games. More importantly, Donato has six shots on goal and eight scoring chances in his past two contests. Still, he has not played more than 12 minutes in over three weeks.
The Tampa Bay Lightning may be a decent matchup to do so. Donato possesses a good deal of speed, and at home, Seattle is much more productive. They shoot the puck at a rate of 32 shots per 60 minutes.
He is a winger who could cause the Lightning some matchup issues if he gets more of a chance like the last two games.
Matt Grzelcyk, Defenseman, Boston Bruins
FanDuel Salary: $4,000
Again, the Minnesota Wild have allowed how many goals in their past 11 games? Exactly.
Matthew Grzelcyk should be a low-rostered pivot off of Charlie McAvoy on Wednesday -- like single-digit percentage level.
The blueliner has a goal and an assist in his last four games to go along with six shots and six blocked shots. He'll captain Boston's second power-play unit while McAvoy -- again on that tired first line -- captains the other.
With just a $4,000 salary, Grzelcyk is at least worth a second look tonight to be different on the short slate.
