4 FanDuel Premier League Studs to Target for Matchweek 1
Defender -- Marcos Alonso, Chelsea
Salary: $7,500
Typically, it's hard to stomach paying all the way up at defender, but it's easier to do it on this slate thanks to the lack of appealing top-end options higher up the pitch.
Alonso is a great way to get exposure to Chelsea, especially if Hazard doesn't start. While a switch to Maurizio Sarri's 4-3-3 system dings him a little bit (compared to serving as a wing-back last season), he should still be able to get forward fairly often in a match in which the Blues should see a lot of the ball. Alonso also handles some free kick duties, giving his upside a lift.

Plus, he didn't make Spain's World Cup team, so he should be fresh for the new season, and FanDuel's new scoring settings -- worth checking out if you didn't play World Cup DFS -- award five points to defenders if their team keeps a clean sheet and they play the whole match.
Alonso totaled seven goals and two assists in 33 EPL appearances last year, and he has as much upside single-match DFS upside as any defender in the league.
