For Aaron Nola, the spring wasn't about results, even his important stats such as strikeout rate and walk rate. Instead, it was all about health, and it seems as if everything is checking out there.

After his most recent outing, Nola said his elbow felt really good, according to Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly, meaning Nola has gone 17 2/3 innings without discomfort. He may not be fully out of the woods, but this is, at least, a positive sign.

If Nola's healthy, we could be on the verge of seeing one of the game's rising aces once again. He finished last year with a 3.29 SIERA despite the health issues, combining an above-average strikeout rate with tremendous batted-ball stats. Opponents had a 55.2% ground-ball rate with just a 28.7% hard-hit rate, making him among the best in the league at limiting damage.

Nola's a former first-round pick who shot through the minors and has already had success in the majors. Assuming the medicals check out in his final spring start, things look fine and dandy for him to resume his domination soon. Although the elbow issues do increase the risk of buying and lower what we should pay for him, Nola is still a player who is firmly on our list.
